Our Conch Tour Train driver explained how the big fort got its name. If you have not heard of the name Zachary Taylor, he was president of the US in 1850 and died in office. Local government officials had a meeting and the name was presented as a recommendation, and the naming became official. Locals here on the island simply refer to it as Taylor Park and Snorkel Beach.
