Options for Travel to Key West

One of the hottest industries going in Monroe County is waterbased travel to the islands. The Cruise Ship Lines are just exploding with people wanting to coast their way over to the Port of Key West. Take the Key West Ferry from South Florida destinations like Fort Myers and Marco Island. The harbors of island up and down the Florida Keys are daily destinations of hundreds of yachts, water taxis, and pleasure craft. Plus you have the Key West Airport. So, for those that do not like the drive down US1, both water and air are open options.

Why do the Biggest Disney Ships not come to Key West?
The Disney Fantasy will reach Port Canaveral, but is too big for the Port of Key West. That is a big problem for the port system, and the city is losing out on a lot of potential visitors. We are ready to take a Disney Cruise, and would like to book our vacation on the Disney Fantasy. That means no Key West.

How to get around Key West?
What a great area, kind of on the far side of the island, behind everything. Once you get down here you definitely do not need a car. The bicycle taxis are really neat, but they cost too much money. The best thing to do is just walk around and enjoy everything or get a bicycle to travel further around the island.
